Notice regarding recent bear sighting in the Village (6/7/26):
Department of Environmental Conservation Officer R. Fetterman, was notified of the sighting and told the Village to contact the DEC again if there are more sightings. At this time there is no known damage from the bear's visit, but residents are advised (from the DEC) to do the following:
-take down/don't fill bird feeders
-wash your barbeque after each use
-put out trash the day of pick up (don't overfill and make sure lids are secured)
-do not feed bears; this is a violation
-make loud noise if you see one (bang pots and pans, etc) to keep it moving
-if you're a beekeeper, ensure you have an electric fence.
Please notify the Village office via email or phone if you have any more sightings, and we will contact DEC again.
